Blocks! is an ambitious new online sandbox game inspired by Roblox, tailored specifically for low-end devices and designed to run smoothly even on modest hardware. The goal is to provide a fun, creative space where players can build, explore, and interact without the need for high-end specs.

The game is designed with these systems in mind:

• Windows 8 - 11 — to cover the majority of desktop users on common Windows versions.
• Linux — to support open-source enthusiasts and users of lightweight distros.
• Android — targeting mobile users on lower-end devices for smooth gameplay on phones and tablets.

Development started today using Godot 4.4, a versatile and open-source game engine known for its efficiency and flexibility. The game is still in the very early stages, with many core features yet to be implemented.

Current progress includes:

• Imported 3D player model with basic movement controls.
• Lighting effects applied to the player model, though other objects still need lighting adjustments.
• Basic physics in place, but the baseplate currently falls due to an unresolved issue.

This is just the beginning! Future plans for Blocks! include:

• Stable, fully functional terrain and baseplates to build upon.
• Interactive tools and objects, allowing players to create and manipulate their world.
• Multiplayer support to connect with friends and explore together.
• Customization options for avatars and in-game assets.
• Optimizations to keep performance smooth on low-end devices.
• Regular updates driven by community feedback and testing.

Since the project is early, many bugs and quirks remain, but every day brings new progress!
